Organic vegetables have so many health-related benefits, and can be helpful inside and out! Organic produce is often an ingredient in beauty products. But have you ever made your own skincare or makeup products? Here are some easy DIY beauty product recipes to try!

Beets: Cheek and Lip Color (Adapted from The Old Farmer’s Almanac)

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons beeswax
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons vegetable glycerin or raw coconut oil
  • 1 large beet, peeled

Grate the beeswax into a small stainless-steel pot. Add glycerin or raw coconut oil. Put the pot in a larger pan with water, then melt wax over boiling water. Grate the beet and add it to the waxy oil mixture. Allow the mixture to simmer on low heat for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Strain it into a small glass or stainless-steel container to remove beet bits. Allow the pigmented liquid to cool. Store in a tightly capped glass container. And it’s ready to use! You can even alter the color by adding a little grated carrot or a few fresh berries along with the beets.

Cucumbers: Puffy Eyelid Treatment and Skin Tightening

Cucumbers are soothing and cooling and can be used on even the most sensitive skin. Just put a couple of cold cucumber slices over the eyes to help reduce puffy eyelids. The combination of cool temperature and the antioxidants and flavonoids works wonders. You can also rub slices on your face to cool and refresh, and tighten pores – or mash up a cucumber in the food processor to make a paste.

Spinach and Parsley: Anti-Aging Face Mask

Spinach is packed with beta-carotene and lutein, two nutrients that are great for the skin. And it’s super easy to make a DIY spinach face mask that also includes parsley. The mask recipe begins at 2:30 into this video with OnTheCheapTip.

Carrots: Skin Repairing Face Mask (Adapted from She Knows)

Ingredients:

  • 2-3 large carrots
  • 4 ½ Tbs honey

Cook the carrot and mash until smooth. Mix the carrots with honey, and apply to your face. Leave it on for about 10 minutes and you will benefit from lots of vitamin A, vitamin C, and potassium. The carrot mask can also help repair skin tissue and tone the skin.

Tomatoes: Skin Nourishing

Tomatoes contain potassium, which helps regenerate skin cells. They can be used to help reduce wrinkled areas or dark spots. Just put a few slices on the affected areas. The vitamin A and C in tomatoes can help tighten and lighten skin.
